An AI writing tool can offer possible revisions, but a fluent sentence is not proof that the meaning is correct. Treat feedback as a set of suggestions to evaluate. Your purpose, facts, and voice remain your responsibility.
Decide what kind of help you need
Ask for one task at a time: identify unclear sentences, point out repeated ideas, or explain why a transition is difficult to follow. A broad request to “make this better” may produce a polished rewrite that changes the emphasis or replaces your natural language with generic phrasing. For coursework or workplace writing, check the applicable rules before using an AI tool. Some settings limit or require disclosure of assistance. Do not upload confidential, personal, or proprietary material unless you have permission and understand the tool's data handling.

Review changes side by side
Ask whether each suggestion preserves the claim, the level of certainty, and the relationship between ideas. “May improve” is not the same as “will improve.” A rewrite that removes a qualification may sound stronger while becoming less accurate. Check quotations, numbers, names, and references against original sources. Do not assume that a citation exists because it is formatted convincingly. If you cannot verify it, remove it or find dependable support yourself.
Protect your voice
Read the revised passage aloud. Would you naturally use those words with this audience? Keep phrases that sound like you when they are clear and appropriate. You can accept a structural suggestion while rejecting its proposed wording. Finish with your own full read of the document, including transitions around edited passages. Record or disclose assistance when your context requires it. AI feedback is most useful when it helps you notice and solve a writing problem, rather than replacing your judgment about what you mean.
